Covad Software Downloads
This section allows you to download the software you need for your Covad service. Note that this software is not required for all services, and is currently not compatible with all operating systems. If you have any problems with the software, please call Covad Customer Care at 888.64.COVAD.

Covad PPPoE Software
All Standard DSL and Standard DSL Link customers must install the Covad connection software on their computer in order to use the service. A CD was distributed in your DSL Installation Kit, but you may also download the software here. Covad only provides connection software for the following operating sytems: Windows 98/98E, Windows NT 4.0 or higher, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Pro, Mac OS 8.6, Mac OS 9.1 or higher, and Mac OS 10.1 or higher. If you do not have one of these operating systems, you are responsible for providing your own connection software.

WARNING - You should un-install any existing connection or PPPoE software on your computer before installing the Covad software. Failure to do so could result in interoperability problems.

All customers should follow the instructions listed below for downloading and configuring the Covad PPPoE software.

Installation Instructions
Windows
***Important: WinZip is required to download the Windows file.***
***WinZip is available at http://www.winzip.com***
  1. Download the file TaccWinv1.2.88Covad.zip to your hard drive.
  2. Right click on the file you downloaded and choose to Extract the files to a new folder on your computer. Make note of the folder name.
  3. Open the folder with the extracted files.
  4. Double click the file named Setup.exe to begin the installation.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Macintosh OS 8.5 - 9.1
***Important: Diskcopy is required to download the Macintosh file.***

  1. Download the file CovadAccessInstall100f5c1.imgc.bin to your hard drive.
  2. Double click on the file. This creates a RAM Disk named Covad_DSL on the Desktop of your computer.
  3. Drag the file named Access Installer from the RAM Disk window to your hard drive.
  4. Double click on the Access Installer file that you copied to your hard drive to begin the installation.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Macintosh with OS X
  1. Download the file CovadAccessInstall100f5c1.imgc.bin to your hard drive.
  2. Double click on the file. This creates a RAM Disk named Covad_DSL on the Desktop of your computer.
  3. Double click on the RAM Disk named Covad_DSL to open it.
  4. Double click the file named Install Now located in the RAM Disk window.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Note: The OS X installation does not require a reboot of the computer however, the PPPoE information in the Network Settings is not updated until the computer is rebooted. A reboot is not required for the end user to begin surfing.


Standard DSL Plus Firmware Upgrade
If you would like to upgrade the firmware on your ZyXEL Prestige 643 ADSL Router, you can do so here. The Standard DSL Plus firmware upgrade is necessary for some Standard DSL Plus customers that are trying to:
  1. Change their IP configuration from 1 IP address with NAT to 5 static IP addresses
  2. Connect to XBox Live or other online gaming sites
Depending on your firmware version number, you may not need to upgrade to proceed with the desired functionality. If your firmware is version V2.50(AY.4) or V2.50(AY.5), you do not need to upgrade. If it is anything other than that, you will need to download the Standard DSL Plus Firmware Upgrade to proceed.
