This informantion is contained in the
Standard DSL Plus User Guide, but is shown here with screen shots.
Once your PC has been configured to obtain an IP address automatically, open your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and hit Enter. This should take you to the Web based configuration tool for your ZyXEL Router.
You will be prompted to enter a username and password. The default router username is admin and the corresponding password is admin. Enter this or if you have changed your username and password, enter the correct information and click the ok button.
In the case where the default password and any other known passwords do not work, the router password would have to be reset. Click
here for instructions on how to recover the password on your ZyXEL router
Once the username and password is validated you should get to the Welcome Screen.
The screen shots provided are for routers with firmware version 2.50AY.4. Our new routers currently ship with this version however it is possible you have an earlier version of the firmware if you have an older router. Customers who have multiple static IP addresses with their Standard DSL Plus service will need to upgrade to firmware version 2.50AY.4 prior to configuring their router.

To configure your router click setup and select the 'I have a PPPoE username and Password' and hit the Next button
Next enter your PPPoE username and password. These are of the form 'xxxxxxx@bzn' or 'xxxxxxx@bz8' and were sent to you via email when your kit was shipped or when your IP change order request was completed. They can also be found in the Service Management section of
My Covad Account. The service information provided when you click on 'Your Service' includes the current PPPoE username and PPPoE password.
You will see a screen titled "DSL Gateway Setup Complete". If you have the NAT IP configuration your setup is now complete. Click on the Close button and logout of the web based configuration tool. You should now be able to access the Internet.
If you have the 5 Static IP addresses you will need to go through one more step to configure your IP addresses.
Click the Configure IP Information button.
Enter the "LAN IP Address" and "LAN Subnet Mask" in the correct fields. This information was also sent to you in an email notifying you that your kit had been shipped or your IP change request had been completed. If you want to change your DHCP settings, you can also do that on this screen. However, this is not necessary for the standard configuration. Click Finish.
Congratulations! You have completed the configuration of your ZyXEL router. You should be able to access the Internet and send email. If you have any trouble with these instructions, or if you are unable to get Internet access, please call Covad Customer Care at 888.64.COVAD
