Basic set-up information for your Covad Services

Mac OS X

1. From the "Apple" menu, choose "System Preferences".

2. Click the "Network" icon.

3. Click the arrow box on the "Show" pop-up list and choose "Internal Modem".

4. Click on the "PPP" tab.

5. In the "Telephone Number" field, type your local access number exactly as it needs to be dialed. Be sure to enter all 10 digits if your area has 10 digit dialing. Please note that the customer is responsible for all long distance charges associated with Covad dial service.

6. In the "Account Name" field, type your username with @covad.net (i.e. username@covad.net)

7. In the "Password" field, type your password.

8. Click "Apply Now" and you are finished.


Other Mac OS (OS 8-9)

1. From the "Apple" menu, choose "Control Panels".

2. Open the "Modem" control panel.

3. In the "Connect via" pop-up menu, choose the port to which your modem is connected.

4. In the "Modem" pop-up menu, choose the modem you are using.

5. You can click on any of the other settings you want, and click "Close" to close the modem control panel.

6. Open the "Remote Access" control panel. This control panel was called "PPP" in older versions of Mac operating systems.

7. Select "Register User".

8. In the "Name" field, enter your username with @covad.net (i.e. username@covad.net).

9. In the "Password" field, enter your Covad password.

10. In the "Number" field, type your local access number exactly as it needs to be dialed. Be sure to enter all 10 digits if your area has 10 digit dialing. Please note that the customer is responsible for all long distance charges associated with Covad dial service.

11. Close the control panel, and you are finished.
