Standard DSL Plus Configuration Instructions

Multiple IP Addresses
These instructions are intended for customers that have ordered multiple IP addresses from Covad for their Standard DSL Plus service. Please follow the instructions listed below once you have completed the setup of your location for DSL.

Step 1: Make sure the firmware on your ZyXEL router supports a multiple IP address configuration.

Step 2: After verifying that your firmware supports a multiple IP configuration, disconnect the ADSL line from the router and open an Internet browser. Make sure your computer is still connected to the ZyXEL router via an Ethernet cable.

Step 3: Type the router IP address into the address window of your browser and hit Enter. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1. If you have changed the IP address for your router, please enter the correct address and hit ENTER.



Step 4: When prompted for your username and password, enter the correct information and hit Enter. The default username is admin, and the default password is admin. If you have changed your username and password, enter the correct information.



Step 5: The ZyXEL Welcome Screen will appear. Click on the Wizard Setup link on the left side of the screen.



Step 6: Click the radio button next to "I have a PPPoE username and password" and click Next. Never click "I have a static IP address".



Step 7: Enter the PPPoE username and password that Covad sent you in an email notifying you that your IP change request was completed. Hint: Your username should end it "@bz8". Click Next when finished.



Step 8: You will see a screen titled "DSL Gateway Setup Complete". Click the Configure IP Information to procede with the multiple IP configuration process.



Step 9: : Enter the "LAN IP Address" and "LAN Subnet Mask" in the correct fields. This information was also sent to you in an email notifying you that your IP change request was completed. It can also be found in the IP Configuration section of My Covad Account. If you want to change your DHCP settings, you can also do that on this screen. However, this is not necessary for the standard configuration. Click Finish.




Congratulations! You have completed the configuration of your ZyXEL router. You should be able to access the Internet and send email. If you have any trouble with these instructions, or if you are unable to get Internet access, please call Covad Customer Care at 888.64.COVAD.
